The 2018 Nissan Pathfinder has arrived with two new standard safety features and a bevy of upgrades to the SL trim level, as Nissan looks to build on the momentum of last year’s well-received redesign. If you’re in the market for a rugged three-row SUV, you’ll want to give the new model a long look at Royal Palm Nissan!
Automatic Emergency Braking
Nissan provides Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) as standard equipment on the 2018 Pathfinder. With AEB, radar sensors monitor the Pathfinder’s proximity to the vehicle that’s immediately ahead. If you’re closing in on that vehicle’s bumper too quickly, AEB provides audible and visual warnings. If you fail to apply the brakes, the AEB system can apply them, in order to avoid a collision or reduce the speed of impact if the collision cannot be avoided.
Rear Door Alert
Have you ever forgotten something in the back seat? Nissan’s new Rear Door Alert has you covered. This innovative feature knows if a rear door was opened before heading out for a drive. If you walk away from the car after arriving at your destination and that door was not opened, Rear Door Alert will emit a short series of honks as a reminder to check for occupants and valuable cargo. It’s the first in the industry to use externally audible alerts.
Pathfinder SL Upgrades
The 2018 Pathfinder SL is equipped with Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC) and the NissanConnect infotainment system (including navigation and services) as standard equipment. ICC uses radar sensors to keep a specified distance behind the vehicle ahead of you while traveling on the highway. The SL trim level now includes a total of six USB ports (up from two) to keep everyone charged up and connected.
The stylish Midnight Edition package is offered on the Pathfinder SL trim level for 2018. The optional package includes black 20-inch Midnight Edition aluminum-alloy wheels, along with a bevy of blacked-out trim, and illuminated kick plates and exterior approach lighting. The Midnight Edition was only available on the top-of-the-line Pathfinder Platinum in 2017. It’s only offered with three exterior paint colors: magnetic black, pearl white, and gun metallic.
