The idea of a “back-to-school” car is relatively new. When most of us were growing up, we were lucky to get a “back-to-school” jacket or lunchbox, let alone an entire car, but today’s young adult has very different needs than most of us did when we were 18. Parents are more in tune to those needs than ever before, so when it comes time to send a son or daughter away to college, they want to make sure that they get their kids their safely.
Considering that kids are going further and further away from home for higher education, safety is a huge concern, not only to get to and from home on holidays, but also while they’re bumping around their new college town.
From the kid’s perspective though, it’s not about how safe the car is, but about how cool it looks or how fun it is to drive. Therefore, putting together a list of the top “back-to-school” cars has to be a perfect combination of what the parents want and what the kids want, and in this case there’s no better balance than the Nissan Versa sedan.
Any Nissan dealership can preach the wonders of this little car, but it’s common knowledge that the Versa is one of the most successful small cars in the entire market. It’s a sharp-looking little vehicle, which students dig, but it’s also got a lot of really nice standard safety features, which the adults like. The 2012 version has been completely redesigned, which is why we mention the sedan first, but the hatchback version will get its own redesign next year. That one will be a hit with young people, too, especially ones with a trunk full of stuff to haul halfway across the country.
As a Delray Nissan dealer, we know that this is a perfect “back-to-school” car that can make everybody in the family happy with the purchase, and while you may be skeptical you’re just going to have to take our word for it. It might be a relatively new concept, but there’s definitely a market for cars designated for students, and the Versa is definitely one of them. In our opinion, it’s the best one.
